Ambar Machfoedy | Strategic Advisor

Over three decades, Ambar has built a successful career as a management consultant, venture
capitalist, fundraiser and business school professor. As a consultant with Massachusetts-based Monitor
Company and before that, with Accenture, he provided management advisory services to clients in
Africa, India, Hong Kong, South Korea, the Philippines, the USA and Singapore. Client engagements
included start-up ventures, MNCs, SMEs, government agencies and international institutions.

The types of projects included strategy development, market penetration and overseas expansion. On several
occasions, the engagements entailed the raising of funds for working capital and growth. He has helped
raise funds for businesses in pest control, food & beverage, health information systems and agritech.
Ambar was also a managing partner of a technology-focused venture capital firm. Working out of the
firm’s Singapore and Philippines offices, Ambar raised investible funds for the firm and sourced for
exciting new ventures in Southeast Asia to invest in and to mentor through their stages of growth.
Ambar has taught as an Adjunct Professor of  Marketing at the Leonard N. Stern School of  Business,

New York University and at the Asian Institute of Management in the Philippines, and at the Nanyang
Technological University in Singapore. On his own time, Ambar provides consultancy services on a
pro-bono basis to not-for-profit organizations in Harlem and the Bronx in New York City.
Ambar holds a First Class Honors degree in Accountancy and an MBA from Nanyang Technological
University, Singapore and was in the doctoral program in Marketing at the Harvard Business School.
